The Digital Ninja Tutorial Series :
Illustrate Like a Pro : Female Anatomy !

1 2 3 4

Time once again for a ninja lesson. This
time around we are focusing on the female
anatomy. The female body in my opinion
is much more difficult to illustrate than
a male's physique. The main dilemma alot
of people run into is within the torso and
chest area. Since these areas can vary
vastly on the type of female you are drawing,
some people can have trouble illustrating it
just right.
The first tutorial will cover
alot of the same steps as we did on the
male. But there are some differences so I
suggest browsing through.

Required Ninja Gear:
Materials you will need for this tutorial.

1. A Pencil and Eraser (WOooHoo a cheap tutorial !)

Intro : Ok this will be a quick and easy tutorial. I suggest
you practice alot on Illustrating the female anatomy if you are
new to it or feel uncomfortable drawing it correctly.

Sections :
1. Body outline and Pose (Stick Figures)
2. Cones and cubes
3. Filling in details
4. Erasing and final pencils

Step 1. Body outline and Pose (Stick Figures)

As you can see, the main difference you want to
focus on when drawing the female figure is that
the chest and torso area are thicker and rounder
than that of the male's.

When first drawing out the human figure, start small.
The quickest way to get a feel of what the overall image
is going to look like is to draw a rough outline of the
body with "sticks".

As you can see here I have used plain thin lines to
represent the bodies main spine, arms, shoulders, and
legs. What this does is help you get an overall feel of
how the body will be positioned in the scene.

When joining each of the limbs I just used a small
circle (arrow). This will indicate where the joint and
pivot point of that limb will be located (arrow).

For the head I have used an oval for general
placement. Also I ave used triangles for the feet
and hands. I have chosen to use these shapes
because the are the best representation of the
outline shape of each body part. Do not worry
about putting on fingers and a face yet. That
step will come later.

Some things to remember :

Do not worry about details at this step. You are just
laying out your image and its placement. So keep it
basic.

Now lets move on to " Cones and cubes "
